The Dominican Republic is a nation on the Hispaniola Island. It is a part of the Greater Antilles .It is the second largest Caribbean nation in both population and area. At the time of Spanish rule, it experienced much internal strife. The Dominican Republic is the largest tourist destination.

Santo Domingo, is the capital which is a metropolitan area situated on the southern coast. The part of the Dominican territory is small offshore islands and cays. The important mountain ranges are Cordillera Septentrional. The minor mountain ranges are Sierra Martin Garcia, Sierra de Yamasa and Sierra de Samana .It has a big valley to the city of Santiago. The land in the Enriquillo Basin is below the level of sea and so it is very hot and looks like a desert environment. The smaller valleys are Jarabacoa, Constanza, Bonao and Villa Altagracia.The country has many sugar plantations which is normal in this place. The longest and important Dominican river is Yaque del Norte .It has a tropical climate.

The people in the Dominican Republic are 95.2 percent Christian. And among 88.6 were Roman Catholic and 4.2% Protestant. Almost of the people in the Dominican Republic speaks Spanish. The students in the Dominican Republic school are taught bilingual education, by the teachers .English is denoted as a second language. There are some private and public vocational schools are found. The culture of the Dominican Republic people is just like Spanish Caribbean neighbors.

The prominent in food are related with African, European and Taino cultural elements. The breakfast contains with eggs and mangu. The lunch of the Dominican Republic consists with meat, rice beans and salad. The favorite food are pastelitos, chicharrĂ³n, pasteles en hoja, bizcocho dominicano .It contains a well developed telecommunication. The big high ways are DR-1, DR-2, and DR-3.The 106-kilometer toll road which is new connects Santo Domingo with the country’s northeastern peninsula. There are number of resorts are available in all the locations such as Puerto Plata and Punta Cana which is run by the Spanish hotel companies such as Sol Melia and Barcelo. Near the airport Allegro Playa Dorada contains 494-room beachfront resort with a freeform pool.
